More online events from the record office

We are pleased to announce another three free online talks for the new year.

Our first talk is our ever popular ‘Introduction to the Record Office’ – find out who we are and the services we offer, the collections we hold and how you can access them, whether in person or remotely.

Talk: ‘Introduction to the Record Office’ – Thursday 27th January, 7-8pm, Free

Get advice on how to avoid this happening to your precious family photographs

Our second talk is ‘Preserving Your Past’ – most of us have photos, letters, diaries or other documents that we treasure and want to keep safe for the future. Find out from our Conservation Team what causes damage to these precious possessions and how best to look after them.

Talk: ‘Preserving Your Past’ – Wednesday 2nd February, 2-3pm, Free

The third is ‘Derbyshire Coal Mining Records for Local and Family History’ – do you have a coalminer in your family tree? Would you like to find out more about collieries in your local area? This talk will cover what is held in the archives of the National Coal Board (NCB) and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Derbyshire area. Find out how you can use these archives to help you with your research.

Talk: ‘Derbyshire Coal Mining Records for Local and Family History’ – Wednesday 2nd March, 7-8pm, Free

You can book a place through our Eventbrite page.  Our events are run via Microsoft Teams and we’ll email a link a day or so before the event. Don’t worry if you don’t have the Teams app, you can take part as a guest.
